Grant Opportunities

Each year the Lee County Partnership for children awards grants to child care centers and/or family child care homes who are interested in improving the overall quality of their facility.  GS-110 (faith-based) child care centers are also eligible if they agree to become a NC licensed child care facility and become star-rated.

Quality Enhancement Support Services Grant

The Quality Enhancement Support Services Grant addresses the need for improved quality child care in Lee County.  Through funding for the purchase of goods, materials, and/or classroom furnishings and providing on site technical assistance, child care centers and family child care homes can improve their star ratings.  The Goal: At the end of the two-year grant, the recipient will be able to apply for an increase of at least ONE Star Rating Level.

The grant application is offered to 1, 2, and 3-Star facilities.  Applications are accepted in the fall of every year. Interested facilities are required to attend an information session prior to beginning the process.  Other eligibility criteria include:

  • Child Care Center or Family Child Care Home is located in Lee County
  • 3-Star (or less) Licensed Rating for a minimum of 6 months

Once a site has been approved an accepted into the program they will be assigned an Early Care Education (ECE) Specialist.  The ECE Specialist will conduct pre-and-post assessments in the following areas to determine the greatest need:

  • Program Administration
  • Classroom Environments
  • Outdoor Learning Environment

The ECE Specialist will work with the site exclusively for the duration of the 2-year grant cycle.

Quality Maintenance (QM)

The Quality Maintenance Grant provides services and support to enable 4 and 5-Star child care centers and family child care homes to continue offering the highest quality child care in Lee County. The Goal: At the end of the two-year grant, the recipient will have maintained or improved their Star  Rating.
